Donation drive for Society For The Aged Sick

We believe that giving back to our community is a vital part of our mission. Hence we are organizing a donation drive for Society for the Aged Sick.

We strongly encourage you to seize this teachable moment to involve your child in purchasing or preparing the items to be donated. This will allow your child to be more appreciative and teach him/her to give rather than just always receive.

Kindly send the items to the school during the collection period by referring to the details below.

2. About Society for the Aged Sick

In 1965, Ms Ursula Khow and her sister, Ms Teresa Hsu, founded ’Welfare Resthome‘ to care for the aged sick and destitute at 27 Jalan Payoh Lai.

On 14 February 1968, Mr Thompson from the Rotary Club took over ‘Welfare Resthome’ and established the Society for the Aged Sick.

In January 1999, the Home shifted to a new 3-storey building with a 192-bed capacity at its current location – 130 Hougang Avenue 1. An additional 4th storey was constructed in 2006, increasing the resident capacity to 244 beds.

In 2013, a new 9-storey annex building was completed, and the Society can now accommodate and cater for 404 beds. The new annex was officially opened by Singapore’s Minister of Health, Mr Gan Kim Yong, on 31 July 2014.
